Hey amhoanna,

thanks for sharing, you beat me there  I found that one a short while ago, too, and I think I mentioned it to Ah-bin, but due to my thesis I didn't find the time to write a post.

Anyways, although this dictionary is not a new compilation but rather a combination of existing dictionaries (the ones from Taiwan's MoE, except for the european language glosses in the Mandarin part) I think it's really handy for a quick search, especially because there is a smartphone version (at least for Android and iOS).

I don't have an iPhone so I can't check right now but a friend of mine found it using the appstore a few days ago. The app's name is 盟典 as well. And at least on Android, it's free.

Yep, that's the biggest weak point of the app in my eyes: It can't process searches in any transcription I know. But it's updated pretty often, so I'm hoping that that feature will be added in the future.

As for your question, for Adroid there is a keyboard you can download called TaigiIME, but I only use it because I haven't found anything better yet. You have to write in 注音 (and not even the correct one, though it's still pretty intuitive. For example, you would spell 暗 as a-m3(ㄚㄇ3) instead of the correct am3(ㆰ3), because the extended 注音 letter ㆰ is missing) and then you can choose characters, which you can then convert to Tailo (not POJ, sadly). Also, more often than not I would come across a character (or more often two or three characters combined to a word) not being recognized at all (including such common words as ē-tàng and ē-hiáu), I'm not quite sure if that's because I spelled it wrong (I can only think of spelling ē-hiáu as ㄝㄏㄧㄠ, but due to the weird 注音 system they use, that could mean eh-iau as well (ignoring the tones because you only enter them for single syllables there)) or because the word is missing altogether.
All in all, I would not really recommend this software, but it's kind of the only one I found, so my choice is quite limited.
