Hokkien Word Meanings?
The word "mua1" for Malay "sarong"
Being Babas, all of the womenfolk (and some of the menfolk) of my grandparents' generation (on my father's side) wore sarongs. We use the word "mua1" when referring to sarongs. In my father's generation, only about half the men and women wore sarongs, as most of the others switched to Western clothing.
Does anyone know where this word comes from, and if there is a hanzi for it?
Thanks,
Sim.

"a short time"
I'm not sure if anyone has explained this before on the Forum. If so, I apologise for asking again.
In Penang we say (among other things) "ma(n)3-nia1 ku2" for "a short time". Does anyone know how "ma(n)3-nia2" is written in hanzi?
Thanks,
Sim.
